How long are cats in heat for if you do not breed and how much does it cost to fix a female?
Answers:
between 7 to 10 days. Unless your cat mates she will continue to come into heat every 2 to 3 weeks. If she isn't purebred and you don't want her to have kittens please take her to the vet and have her spayed ((costs about 250.00 sometimes less depending on the vet offices)).she will eventually escape your home by some misfortune and you risk her catching a number of diseases from contact with an unknown male cat
it cost me about 250.00 to fix my cat.
She should stay in heat for about 3-5 days, but some cats don't ever come out of heat. It only cost me about $100 to get my cat fixed because we got a certificate from the animal shelter (you donate to the shelter, you only have to pay for the drugs and vet stay, not the actualy procedure). If your cat ends up staying in heat, she can be fixed while in heat.
I think it only lasts about a week, but if not mated the cat can go into heat every 2-3 weeks. Check out your local humane society or SPCA - they usually have a discounted spay clinic. I think I got my cats done for $30 each at the Houston Humane Society. It will cost a little extra if your cat is in heat at the time of the surgery, and even more extra if your cat is pregnant.
