She's about 5 weeks old and I got her from the pound (no mommy). She's cleaning her paws after she eat eats but she won't clean herself after the litter box. How much longer till she learns?

I am not sure, but I think I answered this question yesterday, but not with a time limit. Is this kitten able to potty all on it's own, with not help from you (both pee and poop)? if so, you should only have to clean her butt for a couple of days. Be persistent and do it every time she goes. She should pick up on it very quickly. You also could call the pound and ask if they have ever had a similar problem and how they handled it. They may have better suggestions, since I trained mine from the time I started bottle feeding. My experience may be a little different from yours.

It shouldn't take to much longer just don't let her get backed up.
She will learn very soon. She was taken away from her mom to soon. It's just like potty training a kid. She will get it soon because cats hate to be dirty. Be patient.
one of my kitty's were the same way, when i found her she was so small she used a paper plate as a litterbox. anyway, i too would have to wipe her but and i can tell you that unfortunately she has never learned to clean herself on her own. now the husband and i have to wrestle her into the bathtub once every couple months to clean her. she'll clean the other cats, just not herself. her name is Krusty by the way.

at 5 weeks she should be staring that on her, the fact that she cleans herself after eating makes me wonder, does she have loose stool? if she does, maybe she's trying to clean herself up but cannot keep up with it on her own. if she's long haired, you can trim (carefully)around her bottom and the base of her tail to help her stay clean right now. but best suggestion, have her fecal tested, she may have parasites. 9 times out of 10, that's why my fosters cannot keep clean.
