I found a liter of kittens in a carport and wonder when i can take one from its mother.?

No, just leave them be. Let them all stay with their mother. It is VERY hard to try bottle feed them, if they are that young.
Wait until they they are up and playing a little. Put a little bowl of wet food for mom and the babies. If you can see that the babies are eating and drinking, then you can take one.

Let them enjoy their mother as long as they can. They will be more well-adjusted that way. And you won't truamatize the mother by taking one by then.

it depends on the mother , how many kittens she had . my previous experience with cats are after about 8 weeks is the normal time. i have adopted one at four weeks before .kittens are wonderful companions.

I would alert your local Humane Society or Animal Shelter about the mother and her kittens. That way they can protect her and make sure all of the kittens are healthy. Ask them if you can have one of the cats after they check them out. Otherwise, you may take a cat that could be infected with feline leukemia or HIV. I found an abandoned kitten near my home because it was crying incessantly all night and day. I got attached to it but brought it to the vets only to find it was infected with feline leukemia and had to be put down.

Trust me, alerting the Humane Society will be the best thing you can do. You can be assured that if they are sick they will be treated, the mother will be getting feed, and the kittens will be safe. I am sure they will be happy to help you adopt one. It will be very hard to get attached to a kitten only to find out it is sick. Think of the whole litter's safety and do the right thing!

Even if you can bottle feed them (which is very difficult, they would probably die), they must not be taken earlier, because they have health problems of they haven't breastfeeded enough and behaviour problems.

You can take all of them inside your house and call your county鈥檚 Animal Care and Control office and have them pick up the kittens tomorrow or you can also drop them off at their office. If you wish to adopt one, you can always go back to their office and do so. There will be a fee, but nothing compared to what it will cost to have them vaccinated, spayed/neutered, etc on your own.

If the mom is a stray and runs away when you approach her, then you may need to rent a trap and catch the mom that way. The Animal Care and Control office can tell you where to rent one. In Miami, it costs $5 a day to rent a cat trap. They will show you how to use it at the store. In the meantime, if you can, put some water and cat food near the mom, but do not remove any kittens from her. They should be with her for at least 8 weeks.

I don't like to just take the kittens from the mom. The mom needs to be caught as well otherwise; she will have another litter in 6 months.
