Yea, cats really aren't suppose to live outside! Their indoor pets, especially if their declawed because then they have no way to protect themselves! You need to find a kennel or have someone you're close to care for your cat (indoors) while you're away. You should not put your cat outside for the entire summer! That's just being a horrible and irresponsible pet owner! If you don't want to take care of your cat, put it up for adoption! Someone I'm sure is willing to give him/her a good home!
I don't know why people get animals, just to send them outdoors. I think this is absolutely wrong. Is there someone that could watch the kitten for you while you are away? Otherwise, find a place to board the poor kitten.
my cat lives outside and she enjoys it. if u don't want to ask someone to watch it.
um, find a friend or family member to keep her!! that can be very dangerous for a little kitten to have to live outside for the whole summer, especially if shes used to being an indoor cat!! youre not just abandoning her outside, are you? will there be someone feeding her and leaving her water i would hope!! if shes staying with someone but HAS to be outdoors, make sure she has a small dog house or something that she can retreat to as shelter. if you can, get it asap and get her used to it now; dont just throw her in it when you leave. slowly introduce the house to her, and put her in there as much as possible. put toys, food water and all in there to make it feel more like home for her.
Find someone who can take the kitten, and think ahead next time you consider having a pet. They are just like human children, totally and completely dependent on their owners for protection and health. If you can't provide the security necessary for a pet, for godsakes don't get one.
Why not have someone watch it that will keep it in the house.Or find it another home. You will be gone a long time and by the time you come back it will not know who you are.
Are you kidding me, dont put her outside! Is she an outside cat, if not...there no way she'll survive. If I were you Id hire someone to stop in at least once a week to check on her. Cat can be find for a long time by themselves. Just get a giant feeder and water dispenser.

Oh or you could leave her with a friend or a boarding facility...Im just saying because it sounds like you love her and Im sure you would want her to be around when you get home. To me the choice is easy! Good luck with your decision!
DON'T have your kitten live outside!!!
If you live in the country there are more dangers than coyotes! Fox, racoons and even owles will snatch kitten and cats!
I'm asuming your parent won't care for him IN the house while your gone...so give him to someone who will. Maybe you should not have gotten a kitten if you could not be responsible for it!
You should not have gotten a kitten if you couldn't take care of it. You either have to bring the kitten, leave it with a friend/relative, or give it away. You cannot leave it outside, even if it survives that is abuse in my book and in your kittens! Your kitten will probably hate you when you get back, and what can I say I would hate you too. Sorry if that was harsh but its a harsh world, especailly for little kittens with owners who dont have time to take care of them properly.
Are you saying you will be leaving a house cat outside to fend for itself??? If so there's plenty to worry about.

Since you live in the country, and you seem to have no one to care for the cat for you while you are away, your best bet is to try to find a farm that already has some barn cats. If it's roaming, there's no guarantee that it won't be taken by a coyote (actually, statistically it's more likely to be hit by a car), but it won't stray as far if it has a place to go to that is sheltered, warm, where there is company as well as a regular supply of food.

This said, I can only hope that I misunderstood your question. If you love your cat enough to worry like this, please find suitable arrangements for him while you are away.
I would find a family member, friend or neighbor to watch your kitty. Boarding is an option. If neither of those work, then take it to an animal shelter...it has better chances of surviving there than in the wild. It is not fair to the cat to just be thrown outside to fend for itself...it hasn't been taught to get food for itself or how to survive in the wild.
how old is the kitten? i would put it in a kennel or ask someone u trust to come check on it every other day to feed and water it and clean its litter box.after a while of being outside it will become wild if it survives the coyotes.
If your kitten hasn't spent anytime outside then you need to start putting it outside while you are at home for a few hours and watch it to see what it is going to do. Once your kitten gets used to that start putting it outside when you're only going to be gone for a little while. If you do not have something for your kitten to get inside, like a dog house, or box, get something. If you still do not feel comfortable leaving your kitten(I wouldn't) leave it with a friend or take it to the vet and have it boarded.
Why get a kitten just to abandon it outside? Find a friend or a family member to take care of the kitten, or give it away to a loving home where it won't have to worry about getting eaten by coyotes, snakes, owls, and other various things that could kill a kitten. What about food and water? If it has relied on humans its whole life, it isn't going to know or be able to provide its own food and find its own water.
I don't know where you live, but there are lots and lots and lots of cat rescue groups, usually just a group of people who rescue cats and kittens at risk because they live outside. They get the felines veterinary care and socialize them and put them up for adoption. But they also find foster care for them while they are getting healthy and becoming friendlier.

If you live in a rural area, there should be a rescue group in the nearest urban area. You can contact your nearest SPCA or Humane Society and just ask if they can give you the name and number of a few of these groups for cats, or alternatively, the name of couple of veterinarians who keep rescued cats in their offices. Don't tell the SPCA or Humane Society of your plans for your cat, or they will just chastise you (like many of the people who responded to your question).

When you are on the phone with the actual rescue group or veterinarian, tell them your predicament. The vet may be able to take your kitty in for the summer or know of someone who would be willing to take her in. And the rescue groups, given a little lead time, they will probably be able to place your kitty in foster care. This is especially true if you have kept your cat in good health with all her shots and have had her spayed, and most especially true if you are willing to spring for her food while she is in foster care. A couple of months' food really isn't much money, you know.

If you abandon your kitty while you are gone, you are playing Russian roulette with her life. She trusts and depends on you. I am certain that knowing she was in a nice place where you can call and find out how she is doing, and could claim her when you return would go a long way toward calming your nerves. And I think you would respect yourself for putting a little money you would otherwise have spent on things that don't mean that much, for putting that money toward food for someone who thinks the world of you and will be lost and sad when you are gone.

Please try to do this. If you don't want to call the SPCA or Humane Society, you can go online and Google "cat rescue groups" and then the name of the town or county of the nearest urban area, and the state.

Don't abandon your kitty. It will break her heart, and if/when something happens to her, it will break yours. Please.
Absolutely find a friend to take of your kitten. If there is nobody who will then work on finding your kitten a new home. That is absolutely unfair to that kitten to just release onto the great big unknown like that.
you can take her to a kennal, they will take good care of it there, but if you can't do that then it should be fine outside, because cats will make a way to surrvive. we have a lot of land like that too and my cat loves to go outside, well we had to go to texas and she got outside, but she was fine, we came back and there were two dead rabbits outside, and she had lost a little weight, but she was fine. cats have instincts that tell them to kill for food, you have to remember the tiger is a cat and it lives outside. even though your cat isn't a tiger it's in it's blood to prowl and pounce, so really it might enjoy you being gone, but let me tell you it will miss you.
No no never never! Why would you even think of putting a cat outside when there are coyotes?! I'd advise giving the cat away to a good home to people who will not be irresponsible-which is what you are being. You have to treat your cat like you would a child. You wouldn't live a child outside while you vacationed, would you.
No advise at all. I would surrender her to a cat rescue. Responsible owners do not leave a cat outside for the summer because it's convenient for them. There is a very good chance she will be killed, severely injured or get sick.
