My cat escaped about 2 or 3 weeks ago I think she was in heat, and we found her about 3 or 4 hours later running with a tom cat? I feed her half a can of cat food 2-3 times day and she usually stays skinny. Last night she escaped and was out all night and I found her this morning and I could hear the tom cat meowing in the distance. Today I realize her belly was swinging out more than usual.
I was wondering how I can tell if she is pregnant?
And how far along does she have to be before she starts to show?
Answers:
Well, you can always take her to the vet. That way if she is (probably is) then you can make sure she's okay. Then discuss when after she weans this liter to have her fixed. I'm not trying to sound preachy... please get her fixed. Not just for the over population of cats. but for her health too.
Good luck...
if her stomach gets bigger and she starts looking for places to have them like if she hides alot
When its Fat
well.. when my cat became pregnant, we noticed that her nipples we swelling and getting bigger. within a week or two, the vet was able to tell us if she was pregnant.
If she isn't neutered then she is probably pregnant, hanging out with a tom cat, she's gotten herself pregnant, it takes about 62 to 65 days to give birth, is her appetite increased? then maybe she's eating for two. Congratulations!
a few weeks after she gets pregnant, her nipples will probably start getting pinker. by 5 weeks, you should be able to see her getting larger in the abdomen. she might vomit earlier on, and demand alot more food. (its good to feed higher protein food during pregnancy) by 8 weeks you can lightly touch her tummy and feel bumps (dont poke or prod them tho) signs that she is close to giving birth, she will meow more, and she will likely have a discharge and be looking for a place to have her kittens. if she does have kittens, give her space during the birth and be careful not to touch the new kittens too much. also, its important not to give her certain medicines. (check bottles first) as they could cause abortion or perhaps abnormalities. and finally, the 9th week (or 63 days) you should have kittens!
My cat just had kittens 4 days ago. I could tell within 2 weeks. She was starting to get a stomach and you could start to feel her nipples. The term for cats is 60-63 days. Just keep a good eye out on her.
