How does CFA (for cats) registering work?

I am so confused about registering my cat. She is a full bred persian. I want to know how do I register her? Can I register her babies? What if I get a male and mate her with him, and they have kittens, then are the kittens automatically registered? Or what do I have to do? What if she's not registered, and he's not either, then can their kittens be? What if I get him registered, then will their kittens be able to be registered???

Yikes! I am so lost!
Answers:
You can only register kittens when both parents are themselves, registered.

If the parents' papers are not from CFA, you would have to submit them to the office first, to see if they are acceptable. You will also need to provide them with a pedigree that goes back the appropriate number of generations behind the parents, and is certified by the registering body that the papers come from.

For example, I believe CFA will accept ACFA registration papers with the pedigree, but will not accept ACA papers. They also accept foreign registries like GCCF and FIFe which are British and European. You would have to check with them regarding the pedigree generations as some breeds require five, and some require eight.

If you have two registered parents, you can either get a registration form from the CFA office by writing cfa@cfa.org, or you can register the litter online with a credit card at www.cfainc.org. They will then send you blue slips for each kitten, and you pay an additional fee to register each of the kittens. It is cheaper to purchase yellow slips at the time you register the litter, and you can send them in later when the kittens are sold, or you have decided on names.
