How to get pet cat to quit peeing in basement on carpet?

Answers:
Be nice to it, and let it pee where it wants.
get it fixed. if its already fixed, you need to take it to the vet
Get rid of him. That'll stop him from peeing on your carpet.
remove the carpet , and paint or shellac the floor underneath
Pee, on the cat!
You have to get the cat fixed --AND remove EVERYTHING IT HAS EVER PEED ON! Even if you've washed it and you can't smell it, the cat still can and it will keep peeing FOREVER!! Seriously, it is the only way. Good Luck!!!
close the basement door, get your cat fixed and train it to use litter.
.
you can buy this stuff in a pet shop that you can spray on the spot on the carpet and it will keep your cat away from it I forget the name but there are a few different products out there that do the same thing it is like rid a pest like if you want it to stay out of the trash you spray the trash and they dont like the smell so they stay away from it
1. Take the cat to the vet. Urinating/defecating outside of the box is one of the biggest signs of health problems. If the cat has a UTI, than it will associate the pain of peeing with the litter box itself. They can't talk to tell us something is wrong, so they start peeing anywhere else hoping it won't hurt.

2. You'll need to clean the spot really well to ensure that the cat doesn't return to the area. Get an enzyme based cleaner at a pet store, along with a black light. Cat urine glows under a blacklight. Go around all over the basement and clean up all the spots. If you don't get all of it, the cat can still smell it - even if you can't - and will keep going back.

3. Also a possibility that the box isn't clean enough for kitty. Scoop out all solid waste at least once a day. Dump, scrub, and refill the box at least once every 2-3 weeks.
spray cologne or perfume where you don't want it to pee. cat's don't like that smell.
Why is he peeing on the carpet? If this is a new behavior, you need to rule out a medical condition by having him tested at the vets. If nothing is found, then trying to offer him 2 or 3 litter boxes, trying different types of litter, making sure the boxes are in private yet not enclosed spaces, etc. You may need to keep him out of the basement for awhile.
My boss used to have this problem when she would travel for business.always coming home and having the cat pee on her rug when she wasn't there. That is my first thought for you.are you home, or do you travel a bit for work? If so, spend 15 minutes when you get home from work with your cat, this will help your cat understand that they have your attention. My boss eventually put aluminum foil on the carpet.her cat HATED walking on aluminum foil, and stopped peeing on her rug. My advice to you is to put aluminum foil on your rug for a few days, or if you are going to be gone. I hope this helps you.
I took care of cats for more than 8 years. Its so amazing how easy is to take care of them!

All that you need is a place that you may put sanitary sand (this is specially formulated for cats) than just put your pet there and you'll see he'll be always going there.

now, if it's a female, you have to choose between castrate or tolerate it. Because that's the way they use to "inform" the males about "where she is".
use vinager to clean the spot and 90 percent chance that he would stop i did it for my cat and he never did it again
