How old must a cat be to eat real cat food?

i have herd many ansers and i dond no which is correct
Answers:
You should never give your cat, cat food you should give it hard food like meow mix or any other hard cat food. A soft cat food is no good for there teeth cause when they get order there teeth gets rotten and they can loose there teeth and you don't want that OK do what is best for your cat and if you still have any problems on what kind of food to feed your cat than talk to your Vet. Good luck
a kitten can be weaned off its mother for 4 months, usuallly by giving it some slightly watered down kitten canned food, along with occasional feeding from the mother.By 6 weeks the kittrn should be completely on kitten foodfor 1yr, then switched to an adult food.
Kittens should start on solid food and begin to be weaned when they are about six weeks old.

Until they are six to eight months old, feed them kitten food because they need the extra vitamins and calcium.

Then switch them to adult cat food.
the cat must to weaned from the mother (around 3 months old)
then your cat should be able to eat kitten food. but if not sure ask a vet or local animal shelter. (they have lots of experience)
Dunno exactly, but I suspect it's about the same as dogs- start weening at about 7 or 8 weeks.

Call a vet- they'll have the most accurate information.
Hi

About 6 to 8 weeks is right. I want to pint out that it is a fallacy that dry food is better for a cat's teeth or anything else for that matter. Dry food can cause many problems down the line like diabetes and kidney problems. Cat's are not big water drinkewrs and get most of their moisture from their food. Also, most dry foods are loaded with carbs and cats are carnivores and their bodies may have trouble processing the food. Many vets are educated in nutrition by the pet food companies and they do not have enough independent knowledge of nutrition. Please feed canned foods without the gravy. so as to keep the carbs to a minimum.
