How do you get a cat to stop shedding?

Answers:
It's not true that short haired cats shed very little. I've had short haired cats all of my life and still managed to find little white hairs all over my black shirts. It's a pain I am sure you know about. :)
Sad thing is there's nothing you can do to prevent the cat from shedding just like you can't prevent yourself from shedding hairs throughout the day. But if you brush the cat with a natural bristle brush 2-3 times a day it will lubricate the cat's fur in natural oils that will make the hairs less airborne whenever the cat does shed AND it will also remove a lot of the surface hairs that the cat has already lost so that they won't get in the air and all over the place. Also consider using a HEPA filter vacuum cleaner. I was skeptical of spending so much for one but since I got one (actually for around $130) I can't fathom ever being without it. It helps tremendously with pet dander and dust. And guess what? For the last few months I've been wearing my black shirts WITHOUT Siamese kitty hair all over them. Hope this helps! :)
lots of regular brushing
make sure it's getting a good diet and enough vitamins
if all else fails you can shave it - but that won't be easy.
Get rid of it %26 get a short haired cat. They shed very little.
The best answer to this question is to get a cat brush (or even a dog brush) that is specifically made for this reason, and come out the hair yourself, somewhere easy to clean up. Such as the bathroom floor, (if it has lenolium or tile then it can just be swept up) I know that Plow and Hearth has one of these. Good luck and God bless!
You can't.cats shead there coat, just like you shed your hair.

you can brush it a lot, but that will only help, it will not make it stop.

Love your Kitty
You can't actually get a cat to stop shedding. It's natural that they shed, but there are some breeds that shed less than others. Regular brushing will help get rid of the loose hairs.

I like using a flea comb to comb my cats. It really get rid of that downy undergrowth that my cats have.
Hello there, Alas I cannot give you an answer as it is nigh on impossible to do so, all one can do is comb or brush your cat each day on a regular basis..I might add this is extremely good for your pet and you may derive pleasure from this as well. I have six different breeds and all shed except for the Rex cats although having said that even they can at times. The only other cat which is almost hairless is the Sphynx

I wish you luck
You cannot get a cat to stop shedding. Cat's just shed. So do humans. We shed hair and skin everyday. It's just more noticeable with a pet. You can assist in the shedding process by brushing your cat with a "slicker" brush regularly. A slicker brush is designed for cats and is a flat rectangle with a handle. The bristles are made of wire and are straight except for an angle at the tip. These are the best at grabbing the loose hair on the cat so you can brush it off. Most cats love to be brushed. If your cat seems not to like it, you may be brushing too hard or have the wrong brush type. Please realize that a cat sheds it's coat year round, but more hair is shed as the daylight hours get longer. This is right in conjunction with the arrival of spring and summer. So now (if you're in the northern hemisphere) is the best time to begin brushing your cat regularly. A good quality diet will also assist your cat in growing a healthy, shiny coat. Good luck.
I don't believe you can get a cat to stop shedding...They shed and grow fur according to their climate and stress environment...You can maybe keep in under control by brushing it's fur everyday [if he'll let you, ha ha]. Don't keep your house too hot or too cold...You could bathe your little friend occasionally, to rid it of loose fur...P.S. "If you learn of a way to stop shedding, please let me know...I have two little shedders"
Start on the inside with a good diet ,and a blend of vitamins, minerals, and Omega-3 and -6 fatty acids.
For the brush i would suggest GripSoft Cat Slicker Brush and a bottle of Grooming Mist.
You also want to bath your cat,you might need some personal body armour if you cat is not keen on the water..lol, or try Cat Bath Wipes.
well u cant make it completely stop but u can buy a comb for animals who shed and keep him groomed u can also take it to get a haircut that helps. rubbing him alot also makes alot of hair come off so make sure u comb him before rubbing because all off the hair will come off if u dont. hope this helps=)
You can't.

Shedding is a natural process in which the old hair is shed off to make room for new hair growth. It's more prevalent this time of year, though, because they are shedding their extra winter coat. They bulk up their fur for winter to provide more warmth, but when summer rolls around, they don't need it anymore.

Even humans shed their head hair occasionally. It's natural for a certain amount of strands to fall out each day.

The only thing you can do is to brush the cat regularly. It won't stop shedding, but rather minimizes the effects. If you brush off the shedding at one time each day, and dispose of it, it won't end up around your house.

Since hair is comprised of protein, you can also feed a higher quality animal protein based diet. That way, their bodies aren't robbing protein from their hair - thus making it die and fall out - in order to meet their daily requirements. This is also a main reason for hair loss in people.
shave it
You have to brush them, like you would a dog.. Pets naturally shed in the spring, and you have to brush out that old coat... SO that they can have a nice light summer coat.
brush the cat as much as it needs to be brushed.
a well balanced diet and brush, brush, brush
thank you
Brush, a lot. If it persists, you need to take out its claws. But if you let it outside. Do not leave it alone.
BRUSH, BRUSH, AND MORE BRUSHING. Every night when we are having our cuddle time, Butter loves to get brushed. This helps immensely, if we don't do it for a few days you can really tell the difference.
have its hair removed like they do women with facial hair if you do can you post some pics
your cat sheds and there isnt anything that you can do about it
so just get over it
Brush the cat regulary
It's impossible to stop a cat from shedding, but you can reduce it by feeding a top-quality diet and brushing frequently. I recommend this page: http://www.catinfo.org for diet information and info on choosing a good food, and a Zoom Groom cat brush for regular brushing - my cats love being brushed with it, and it does a great job of removing loose hair.

there is a product that is call LO_SHED that you can get at most vets and pet store, it has a money back guarantee if you use it according to the directions, and some vets recommends adding some mega fatty acids to the diet. you can get this at the vets office also.
